my point of argument was this. why even bother with diversity and allowing 83% between main OCD and service point? just use the darn ampacity table and call it done. 83% rule leaves an unknown for when diversity changes. you want less wire to worry about, then make the service point as close to main OCD as possible, etc.

sure, no real evidence that 83% sizing was ever an issue, nor is there evidence for many things NEC is attempting to protect, etc.

ok, dead horse beating scene................
