Almost every job spec we get shows EMT, yet almost every job we do is MC.

Why is that?

VE, value engineering, when we bid we bid it as EMT and provide an alternate for MC.

Most people paying the bill go for MC.

I prefer MC for most things, like can lights.

Your lucky to be able to do that.
They limit it's use around here.

VE is a contradiction in terms.
Actually changing a project from "As Spec'd" to a cheaper installation is "De-value Engineering" a project.

I am going to disagree with you there.

I don't see any added value being brought by EMT over MC from the perspective of a typical building owner.

Those floor trusses are not going to move. I'm surprised this is even being discussed. Actually no I'm not.

Tell me how you'd get around it if your talking about a blk,rd,blue, wht, grn.
Unless it was for a single 3 phase circuit.

I was thinking (Black & white) (red & white)

But you are right if it is blk, red, blue, white then you need the common disconnect.

I dont either.
Most of the VE options start with the Lighting.
Then aluminum instead of copper buss.
Disconnects instead of ECB's
I would think changing from emt to mc would be further down the list.
