Austin Energy said no, it must be a disco. Their system, their rules.
It's just interesting how their rules change over time. They definitely allowed the use of CBs for supply-side connections between 2005 and 2008. But they also had the :slaphead: 20 kWac system cap in place at that time. They may have different concerns now that interconnected systems are larger.
Here's a photo of a supply-side connected system from that era. The lines from the utility enter on the left; the large CB feeds a panel inside the building; the small CB is dedicated to the PV system. I'm sure we still provided them with a visible-lockable ac disco adjacent to this MDP, but I don't recall having to fuse that disco. The OCP at the POC is a CB.
