Correct, which is the reason I maintain that if one were to think that the Sand Hog was the solution to the Water Heater Element Burning Up Because It's Immersed In Muck Blues. I would advise said person, "No it ain't. A new water heater is the only cure for what you got."


How does your heat pump run with no power?

If sediment is only up to lower element it is not too difficult to flush it out. May depend on what the sediment consists of though. Around here I believe it is mostly lime.

What I meant about heating water with power off was that if the power to the water heater is off mine still gets heated - as long as the heat pump that heats and cools my home is running.

Here it is hard water deposits-Calciummagneticasulfatedconcrete gunk is the scientific name. It can be reduced if the water heater is flushed out once a year, but nobody does that.
