i don't see any difference between putting the connectors in a threaded hub of a box or a threaded coupling. Both can be seated firmly to create an effective ground path, the conductors can be pulled through after assembly.

Legally that coupling is not listed for this use. I see it as safe and do it. I would want and demand a ground wire. As an inspector i see it as an easy 20 LOL.
