The job im on now they use the condulets with threaded hubs and set screws and most of the guys on the job remove the screws because they say you dont need them with threaded connectors.
Were running emt with compression fittings, I think they should be in since the condulets are painted they act as a bonding screw, but others think they are for use without connectors.
And another reason someone said for removing them is that they loosen up and fall out, possibly into the product line.

I was just wondering what your opinions are?

Sounds like these condulets are dual functioning. They work with emt or they will work with threaded pipe. I would guess if you use threaded pipe the screws are not necessary. I would probably just tighten them and leave them there.

I've never even seen one like that. I remember that there is some kind of requirement in classified locations where a set screw is required on a threaded joint.... don't have a pic do ya?

heres a picture of them http://www.aifittings.com/h_3.htm#3

The job specs compression fitting so were putting the connectors in but when you try and tighten the screws on the smaller fittings (1 1/4 and smaller) they strip out very easily and i dont know if i still need them with a threaded connection or if i can just remove them

Well this says it all.

Combination threaded and set screw bodies are available in LB, T, LL, LR, and C configurations. They have combination hubs which are threaded for rigid and include set-screws for EMT. The set-screws may be used for rigid, but are not necessary. They are listed raintight with rigid and concrete-tight for EMT. These products can also be used for EMT to rigid.

they come from the factory painted gray i like to tighten the screws to ensure the connection but working in a food plant there is concern with them falling out. Idk i guess ill just listen to the boss and take them outh

If they are factory painted they are fine. Take the screw out or just tighten them and leave them in.

pictures speak a thousand words... the picture u posted show a screw with the threaded conduit
