Pole Setting Tips

Flip the pole? I think not.

The key is to understand that as you raise the pole, the end slips farther into the hole. In effect, you're pushing the pole against the back side of the hole.

A similar method works in raising large ladders. Set the feet against the building, then 'walk' the ladder up. The force of you pushing toward the building is greater than the force of the ladders' weight pushing down at the free end. Once the ladder is against the wall and vertical, you can pull the feet out, away from the building.

I recently set a 20', 4" square steel pole in my yard. Myself and my son just walked it up.

I know. Quartz lights are cheesy but that's what I had laying around at the time. I now have some nice 1000W metal halides laying around and I WILL change them.

Cool, I dig the prison yard theme.

Shouldn't the lights be aimed at the pool?

Your neighbors going to love you for attracting all the bugs to your side of the fence:D

The pool already has lights. The pole lights are for the (grandkids) ball field.
