Internet is almost worthless nowdays.
Well first we must remember this is an NEC code forum, while we do allow how to, how much, and how in the world type questions from those in the industry, most questions will gravitate back to what the NEC allows, and posting a photo of work is an invite to such.
For the most part the OPer answered his own question when he asked it,
I realize that price can change dramatically in less than 100 miles, let alone different states and geographies
And he was well aware of what happens here when we do add photo's to our post:

We do try not be too criticizing, at least in a bad way, but we do try to point those in the right direction when we do see things that don't look like it will meet code, and who knows, maybe if it is caught before inspection it will save them a red tag and reinspect fees?
As far as the OP question, it was kind of an imposable question to answer, as there is to many variables that would or could convey the wrong answer, like he said, this will vary from place to place, and from method to method, and from company to company, not one of us would probably do that same job the same way or use the same material.
So with that out of the way we then try to point the OP in the right direction when we see things that could be a problem.
I have posted photo's here also, and I am glad when they point out something I missed, or just didn't know was required, so it does have it's benefits.
