This is regarding grounding and bonding. A 1960 CBS ranch in south west Florida. The electrical setting is as follows:
1- Overhead service entrance: three 2/0 wires to meter attached to building wall
2-Meter w/o disconnect, grounded and bonded to neutral.
3-From meter to main panel (at 30 ft distance): three 2/0 (same as overhead entrance wires) running through the attic. Plastic conduits just two pieces: one outside up to the attic and the other down to the main panel.
4-Main panel with 200 amp breaker. No ground wire. Ground bus bonded to neutral bus.
5-A separate building has a subpanel connected to the main panel by three wires. The subpanel is grounded to a separate ground rod and the ground is bonded to neutral.
Questions:
A-Since this is a 1960 home, do I HAVE TO bring it to code?
B-What are the risks of the current setting?
C-What would be the options to fix it?
In advance, thanks.
