Our town is still using the 2005 NEC. What code year and article requires a disconnect switch for a MWBC to a shed or barn? Where is the disconnect switch located? Is a two pole breaker used at the source or does a disconnect switch need to be installed in the shed or barn? The plan calls for a 20 amp two circuit MWBC from a 120/208 source. What code year and article requires a MWBC to a shed or barn? Why cant two circuits (two hots and two neutrals) be used instead of a MWBC?

Note a MWBC is considered 1 circuit by this section./

The switch at the barn can be a double pole switch if this is residential property. I don't know why the code only allows one circuit but it does so we must follow it. I usually come up on the exterior and install a weatherproof setup with a dp switch and then feed the circuits from there.
