When tailing from a fixture to a j-box is it usually flex with TFFN wire?

We use MC cable.
We usually use #16 stranded TFFN in 3/8" FMC.
Why would you do that on site?
12/2 MC cable.
But I suspect your job is being done in a different style, we daisy chain from fixture to fixture with MC cable.
I am guessing you are piping from fixture location to fixture location and dropping a single whip to each fixture.
If we were to do that we would order the fixtures equipped with whips from the factory.
What code section says you have to whip from a j-box to the fixture? How can you daisy chain 2x2 & 2x4's. You have to whip to a j-box from the fixture.
Usually for fixtures where bending in solid 12's is a hassle.

It is almost the only way it is done in this area, there is no code reason not to.
But it is more work to replace or delete a single fixture later if you care about that.
Is code max 18" for tails?

I've seen a ton of specs that only allow MC no longer than 6'...
Not if you are in the land of pipe and wireAlmost every job that comes in is specified as EMT and by the time it gets signed is MC.
