Residential Fire Pumps

Have you looked at NEC 695 ? For what few residential fire sprinkler systems that I have seen, they have always relied on adequate water pressure in the city pipe.

If your installing a pump for a NFPA 13D system which is for one and two family dwellings article 695 does not apply. NFPA 13D article 5.1.3 states that pumps do not need to be listed and 6.2(5) says a well pump is sufficient for this system. There may be some requirements from NFPA 13 but your installation will fall under the first four chapters of the NEC.

As Rick said, 13D systems are different. The purpose of 13D systems isn't to put out the fire, it's to extend the evacuation window so residents have a chance to beat feet in time.
