Curious if one brand is preferred over the other between siemens or square d QO. Leaning towards calling for siemens for some other reasons but I would like to hear everyone's experiences. This is new construction.

You looking at Plug On Neutral type?

That can go either way. I should have been more specific, interested in experiences regarding AFCI performance and nuisance tripping. Seeing if there's a "sqd is way better dont use siemens because of 'X'"

This doesn't answer your question, but I've heard of issues with using classic GFCI breakers in a plug on neutral loadcenter. The CH ones will not fit -- you must use a PON GFCI, and they don't make them in the larger 2 pole sizes (which is an issue now if under the 2020 code with clothes dryers, outside air conditioners, and possibly electric ranges all requiring GFCIs). I like the PON approach for AFCIs, as you don't have all those pigtails to deal with and you have finger room to terminate the neutral onto the breaker.

So once someone tells you the SqD or Siemens AFCI is better, look to see if there are PON issues and if they make PON GFCIs in the 30A and larger 2 poles (or if the older ones fit without issue). I'm installing 2 CH panelboards now -- one PON and one not to help deal with that.

I've never had my older CH AFCIs trip. Just bought a pile of the newest ones (combination type), but they won't be installed until this summer.
