Can I bury a casita receiver inside the j-box behind the light so we can put a wall plate transmitter far away? Lutron tech guy said no problem on his end

It is accessible if you take the lift apart I suppose. My only issue with doing that is what if there is an issue down the road? If another electrician comes to troubleshoot an issue with the fixture not working they won’t know to take the whole light apart and remove the box to get to the receiver....

Are you referring to a Caseta repeater? Not sure what a Caseta receiver is. The repeaters are cord and plug and not designed for hard wire or concealment.

Are you putting an actuall caseta switch in jbox and connecting to a pico? Or putting a connect bridge in jbox. I would not recommend either one. Can you put switch in a closet then program to pico?

I have wondered a similar thing: how to add a remote switch (pico remote) to control a light that does not currently have a switch. Lutron strangely does not seem to offer a product that does this. The caseta seems only intended to add ADDITIONAL switch locations via remote where the is already a hardwired switch location. Not sure I really like the idea of burying a caseta switch or dimmer up in a light canopy or box.....

I put one in a couple of years ago. Customer wanted a light with switch where there was none existing. This was an old house with two levels. The light and switch was on the lower level with no access above. I was able to get a wire to the light location but not where the switch was wanted. I installed an RF switch (same as Caseta) in the attic crawl space just inside the door. I then put a PICO remote in the room where the light was. Worked great.

Yes, I talked to a couple techs about it from luton. I'm snipping off the heat sink tabs since not needed and putting it back in a deep wing box. They didn't have a problem with it. I'm trying to please an interior designer of a fancy smancy country club if that's even possible. will only draw 0.08 amps (10 watt led bulb)
