Can you please help me find the code reference for a Firestat to shut off a whole house fan in case of a fire in the home. Maybe I am using the wrong name for the device to shut off a fan.

I don't think it's in the NEC (NFPA 70), but it might be in NFPA 72, the National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code, or NFPA 90A, the Standard for the Installation of Air-Conditioning and Ventilation Systems, where they are referred to as a "Fire Safety Thermostat" (FST).

You probably need to look in the International Residential Code or your state or local flavor thereof. Most of the non-electrical code stuff we talk about here doesn't apply to residences.
