Does anyone know the meaning of the different kW ratings on this dishwasher nameplate? In particular, I'm curious about the square-wave symbol next to the 1.3kW. I see versions of this symbol on different brands of dishwasher. Is it the heating element for drying? Google is no help.

Would you use 1.5kW for this appliance in a load calc? Or can it be 1.3kW?

(It's got european notation with a comma in the place of a decimal point, in case that needs to be said.)

I get 1.6 KW.
The 1.6 Kw is the sum of the three listed ratings 1.3 kw + 1.5 amps (.18 KW) + 1.0 amps (.12 KW)
1.3+.18+.12= 1.6 kw
 
I interpret the label as saying the heating element is 1.3 kW, the circulating pump is 1.0 amps, and the drain pump is 1.5 amps.
So I agree with infinity that you have to add them, except only one pump will be on at a time.
So the worst case is 1.3 kW + 0.18 kW (the 1.5A) = 1.5 kW to two significant figures.
Which is the rating spec'd at the top of the label.
1.5 kW / 120V =12.5A and so an overcurrent protection of 15A is specified.
That's my guess at what it all means.

Sounds good , I was lost on the abbreviations.
 
Not that it makes much difference, but I doubt the drain pump and the heater will be on at the same time. Heater and circulation, yes.
 
Okay, so its corroborated that the squarewave looking symbol is the heating element. Thanks, makes sense. I'm now agreeing that it's 1.5kW nameplate, overall.

Does the fuse part indicate that it can't be put on a 20A circuit? Or that it has an internal 15A fuse? Or that it's a minimum 15A circuit? Just trivia at this point.

Is this thing listed by an NRTL? That data plate jibberish does not seem like something that a NRTL would allow.
