Need opinions of this existing install. You will see a 100 amp SD main that goes to a sub-panel (not shown), a 30 amp mini panel is subbing from the main as well using mc to feed it. The 30a goes to a water heater. Does this need to be addressed?

Thx

Without pictures or a better description, maybe. Depends on how the tap was made.
Is it causing problems?

Sorry about that. I had to downsize the photo for the server to take it. Here it is. There is no problems just wondered if the mc is ok for this application.

MC in of itself shouldn't be a problem if sized properly. Is it feeding a true sub panel, are you speaking of the box having more than one branch or capable to have more than one added branch? Or are you running a local disconnect for just for the water heater, with no capacity beyond just the water heater?

There is nothing visible in the photo that needs to be addressed. One might wonder if that would still be the case if the pic were taken with the covers off.

The SD box with the 30A double pole breaker is for the water heater only. The 100 main that it is connected to also supplies a 100a panel in another room.

Which could be a totally legitimate feeder tap, if the wires are connected properly inside what you're calling the main.
