are you allowed to mount a metal fan pan in the tub or shower area. Is that allowed per code? Not to per say hang a fan but a shower rated light enclosed just wasn't sure if there is a code section for this. Thank you

Update its a plastic fan rated box!!!

The restrictions are for the type of fixture not the box. If you're required to use a wet location fixture that mounts to a recessed box then the box is acceptable.
