I have plans that have indoor 208/120V three phase 225A enclosed circuit breaker transformer secondary that is mounted on C channel support max ten feet from the transformer.

Designer is asking me if he can mount on support C channel. I see it as design issue but not sure. Is C channel support mounting not in compliance or violation of NEC 2014 code?

Maybe the 10’ is in reference to 240.21(CC)(2)? Why would mounting this enclosure on c channel be a design issue? Proper working clearances around enclosure to comply with 110.26?

Yes 240.21(C). Dont see anything on plans and Working space can be achieved without C channel support here.

Not to be a “ Johnny come lately “ but is this about mounting a transformer on a strut trapeze?

The OP is confusing but I think he wants to know if he can mount the CB on the transformer support. If that is what he wants to do, I can't see any major problem with doing so if he can do so and still meet all the requirements for working space, etc.

Seems to me he is just asking if c channel can be used as the structure to mount a circuit breaker enclosure to.

Yes I read it and just confused why mounting electrical equipment on C channel or strut would be questioned that’s all.

Thats also explained in post #1. I am confused why designer would ask plan reviewer if he wanted to do it and so wanted to follow up here see if its any NEC 2014 not code compliance or violation

Think about it:. Have you ever seen any code article that says anything about mounting materials or sizes, i.e. no wood, minimum gauge steel, minimum size bolts, etc????

Actually.......... 110.13(A) in a roundabout way? Sorry not trying to hopelessly lengthen this thread.🥱
