I’ve got this mini split system going into an apartment building that has 1 condenser, 4 heads, and a branch box. My question is I’m feeding main power to condenser and then come off condenser to power the branch box. I have to run #8 to condenser but if the condenser has fuses for the power out at 6amp I can run a smaller wire to the branch box correct? I was thinking #12 (I know that’s large for 6 amp but gc doesn’t want anything run smaller).

the #8 is likely oversized but without nameplate data that's a guess Here we usually see #16 or #14 to the interior units, often TC-ER depending on the wiring methods allowed.

Thank you. I was hoping to do that. Unfortunately I’ll have to run #12 cause the gc doesn’t want anything smaller pulled. Even between heads we had to pull 12/3 waste.
The name plate data is
min circuit amp is 42
Max over current protection 50.

Big mini !!! Be careful, at MCA of 42 amps, #8 NM would be undersized.

RU sure the branch box is powered off the condenser? I have always seen them as taking an independent circuit.
Yes in the instructions there was 2 ways you could wire it. One like you said with a separate circuit but the the other way was coming off of condenser. Luckily it had the second option. I wasn’t there in the beginning the original foreman got fired and he pulled a lot of this already. Then they brought in the new foreman who then wanted me as his second and we’ve been fixing mistakes since we’ve been there.
