Challenger = bad

Always heard tidbits here and there about Challenger panels suffering burn ups, but never had any bad experiences personally - until now. There were 5-6 breakers, with the buss all chowder now. These were mostly HVAC loads which makes sense that they were the ones to overhead.

35-40 years of service...
Not too bad, imho.

Seems like the stab clips were under-engineered and had a problem with loosening up on these 😾. I understand the age, but other brands havnt had as many problems. In any case, makes the case for bolt ons.....

Yeah, I figured the stabs were loose. A lot of times, that can be chalked up to installer error. Especially when a whole cluster of them have the same problem.

But I've seen it with panels that have aluminum bus.
