Went went to look at a receptacle, lady said it wasn't working properly. I took one look and thought, "Gee, I wonder why"

To my fellow backstabbers, we are off the hook
At least on this one 😜 😁

That's not the reason. The design of vacuum cleaners, and also hair dryers, is like a centrifugal pump. When the outlet or inlet becomes plugged, the unit is not moving any air (doing any work) and the current will go down. You can easily test this using a Kill-a-Watt meter.
But there is also a good chance the motor will overheat and trip its thermal protection. They are usually designed for airstream cooling over the motor.

I promise you. I understand. I got current down, dude. You might of missed a point.
Also, our fairly new bissel's cord gets hot enough for the wife :) shut it off.

Just curious if the Bissel is made in China. When they were made in Michigan they were the best you could buy. I never heard of a cord heating up on a vacuum like you mention.
I bought a Bissell about 3 years ago, I think it was the predecessor to the model in this picture. That cord gets hotter than a mofo

We have a Dyson with about a 20' cord. It gets fairly warm, but not so much that I'd worry about the insulation melting or anything.
