NFPA 2003 9.6.1.8 had following:

For the purposes of this Code, a complete fire alarm system shall be used for initiation, notification, and control and shall provide the following.
(a) Initiation. The initiation function provides the input signal to the system.
(b) Notification. The notification function is the means by which the system advises that human action is required in response to a particular condition.
(c) Control. The control function provides outputs to control building equipment to enhance protection of life.

Anyone know where that went in NFPA 2018?

In a thread awhile back you said "Not really. We enforce NEC only." so why are you worried about NFPA 101?

See post #11

Right but our AHJ is dynamic. We had Fire supervisor who did this and now retire. New Fire supervisor came redistributed everything so anything electrical any where Now falls under well electrical us :( . I hate it means not only NEC but now any electrical section IBC, NFPA now its us. :(

Well then as stated in the other thread, you need to invest in the right materials, training, and tools to do the job.

Yeah you are right that I have imagine investing in all those NFPA books that have electrical and IBC but there is no way I can match all your knowledge in here. Now that takes years

Lots of people have asked not in general electric forum but in NEC forum as well nothing related to NEC see you seemed to enjoy their discussion even participate, encourage it

The requirements for the initiation, notification, and control are found in each chapter of NFPA 101. Pick your occupancy, and if its new or existing, and look in that chapter.

I think its usually something like section 9.4 of each chapter, but that's going from memory....
