Sch. 40 or 80

Is you had choice to install( in duct banks) schedule 40 or 80 pvc which would you choose? Thinking pretty much same from labor standpoint.

Larger ID and lower material cost, and schedule 80 adds no value to the installation

You might run schedule 80 where it comes up out of the ground in an area outdoors to add more protection. Some place require it while others don't-- it is the old subject to damage wording.

Not for duct banks, but I would be more comfortable supporting a box from Schedule 80 stub ups than from Schedule 40.

I agree with Don if it's being buried Sch80 is overkill and a waste of money.

Unless it affects the required burial depth, e.g. under a road or driveway.
Engineer might specify it.

Shouldnt burial depth should be the same for either Sch 40 or 80?

The wires won't care. It is underground so generally well protected. IMO, it comes down to a cost issue. It could also come down to what the owner wants. he might spec 80 even if it costs more.

Being UG, it might be cheaper to run some kind of direct burial cable.
