Splices for LED strips

Job has LED strip lights below cabinets, and some above, projecting towards ceiling.

Xfrmr (12V, 2.5 A) for LEDs is on top of cabinets. LED feed lines are split next to Xfrmr and routed to their individual destinations.
Splices are with wire nuts. Should these splices be in an enclosure? They currently are not.
 
Specs on transformer do not say class 2
120V supply is by cord and plug to outlet above cabinet
 
If there is nothing on the transformer as to it's being CL2 then you must assume it's class 1. That means using romex and boxes. If it were me I would just look for another transformer that says CL2 on it.

But if it is only 12V metered and or labeled, wouldn't it automatically be class 2? Is there even class 1 at 12V? Likely another foreign knock off without UL, given lack of proper marking
Seen alot of these real fancy looking fixtures customers are finding online and want installed that are totally lacking proper listing and markings, had one customer that got these fixture that were 230V 1pole, EU voltages and wouldn't light up with American current of 120/240.
 
I looked at pictures I took and yes these are from China.

What if it's 12V and can supply 20A? Just because it's 12V doesn't make it CL2

It's not up to us to classify it. That can only be done by the manufacturer and UL.

I'd have to look but pretty certain there is some power supplies that are inherently deemed to be class 2 such as thermocouple type or some low power battery supplies. Most anything that is converted from over 50 volts source generally would need to be listed and marked as a class 2 supply though.
