Happy New year to the group.

Are any of the Sparkys here using a bore scope? If so, what brand are you using and what do you like/dislike about it? I am in the market for one. I don't mind using my iPhone and an app or a scope with a screen.
Any input will be appreciated.

What is your definition of a "bore scope, and how would you use it? How long, what diameter, and stiffness?

My plumber used one to look in my sewer line. But I would expect an electrician to have different requirements than a plumber.

Agreed.
I need a scope to assist with difficult fishing of wires through finished walls. 8 feet max I think. Stiffness shouldn't be an issue. I can tape it to a fish stick.
My limited research finds cost range of $30- many thousand. I would be ok with a $200 unit if it performs well. However a $50 unit that is adequate, but not stellar would satisfy my needs I believe.

I used to have Milwaukee's 12v scope with (approx) 3' neck(?).

I found it difficult. Not the easiest to orient the screen to what's inside the wall, inadequate light inside, size of objects were very skewed (close objects very large, farther objects too small).

For me, much better to just assess what's in the wall by meticulously noting everything outside. I'm an expert fisher, and I can tell you nothing will beat well-informed intuition.

I still have one. I used the battery on my little oscillating tool until it died .The charger works well. Camera a big disappointment.

I've seen one that connects to the fish sticks and wifi to the phone. I've used a cheap harbor freight one to get an idea of what's behind a wall.

As an young apprentice I learned wire fishing from an expert and have always appreciated the art of.

I also bought a cheap Harbor freight unit and love the ability to actually see what is inside the wall. Orientation can be tricky and the camera fritzes out from time to time, but then recovers.
It is an even more handy tool as you get older and have bad knees. Rather than lay on the floor (cannot kneel) to look under items I use it to view underneath while still standing. Even more fun was using it to observe frogs hiding out inside of an old rotted out railroad tie in the back yard. I would have never guessed they were in there.

I bought a pretty cheap one off Amazon several years ago. It was about worth what I paid for, HOWEVER, the app that it used got removed from the Play Store about a year after I got it. I tried some 3rd party apps, but none would connect the device to my phone. This is just a warning to try to check the software end of things before a purchase. I'm not really sure if you can tell how long an app has been around--maybe a version number would give you a clue.
I've had another one now for a while. I believe it is Depstech. Again, it's fine but not amazing. This one did come with a nice assortment of attachments to screw on to the end of the camera: a 45° mirror, a hook, a magnet, maybe something else, too. I only use it every so often.

My wife bought me a Depstech a couple years ago. Agree...not amazing, but it has worked well enough for the half-dozen times I've needed it. The annoying thing is the Depstech app tries to run any time I attach my USB audio dongle to my phone.
