This product is supposed to be direct bury but I was still going to use PVC to avoid problems later
Product is suitable for direct bury. You certainly can put it in conduit.
We do it on every service with triplex.

For almost all my business career I have told customers that the price of the conduit will/would have paid for one repair on direct bury cable due to rodent damage.

Not so anymore.
We are still going by that rule. We haven’t direct buried any wire, whether streetlight, service, or MV in the last 20-25 years.
Some utilities have specific crews that do nothing but fix bad cable 5 days a week. IMO that’s just a waste.

I am going to be running an underground feed to a detached garage my initial thought was to run singles till I seen the price.
A suggestion was made to possibly try Mobil home feeder cable https://assets.southwire.com/ImConvServlet/imconv/6e3096c7af187c72afc5c673944f94d5448502e0/origin?assetDescr=Aluminum Mobile Home Feeder.spec.

Has anyone had experience with this cable or would recommend an alternative project.

thank you
I would and have used it without hesitation. I also agree with using conduit

MHF is prolly what I would use. If you use type USE you can use sand or non electric pipe for protection. I recently used 4" SDR 35 sewer pipe for a run and that was a lot cheaper than electrical. That said, if it's just a couple hundred feet, really how much are you going to save .......
