NEC 2017 section 700.12(3) says health care occupancies where persons are not capable of self preservation one need backup source

It does not say with assistance or without assistance of others.

What about in facility where persons are capable of self preservation With assistance of others would it need backup?

The definition of ambulatory in 517.2 describes persons who are not capable of self-preservation.

Right but so does NEC 2017 Section 700.12(3).

I dont follow post #2 it negates. Ambulatory has same definition as 700.12(3) in NEC 2017 in that both have Not capable of self preservation but ambulatory includes without assistance of others. Would backup source be required without assistance of others and what about with assistance of others?

Is this on the life safety branch of the essential electrical system?

It is my reading of 517.26 that Article 700 only applies to the life safety branch of the essential electrical system in a heath care facility.

Their is no essential branch. This is outpatient clinic Ambulatory but it does have Patient that are Not capable of self preservation. However issue is that governing body is saying would backup be needed if the patient are not capable of self preservation with assistance or without assistance?
