Water heater disconnect option

Would a 30 amp 2 pole toggle switch be an acceptable means for a residential water heater?

50 gal / 4500 watt

I've used 30 amp AC disconnects in the past but am looking for a "cleaner" flush type means.

4" square box w/ mud ring and FMC out through drywall into tank.

It would be acceptable./
For a real "clean" look, use a breaker lock instead of a disconnect, 422.31(B)

A/C disconnect costs about $7
30 amp switch, 1900 box, and raised cover is gonna put you close to fifty bucks.

They're good for vacation homes where they get turned on and off frequently.

When I was single I use to turn mine on when I got home from work. Take a shower 30 minutes later then turn it back off. Saved money.
