Where can I find the information on the rating of the wires used in MC cable. I looked in Article 330, which took to article 310.4, 311.60,402.5. THHN/THWN is rated for 30 amps. What is the wire in MC cable rated for.

It's 90° C. You can look at a particular brand like Southwire to confirm.

Construction

Southwire Armorlite® Type MC Cable is constructed with soft-drawn copper, Type THHN/THWN conductors rated 90°C dry available in sizes 14 AWG through 2 AWG, and a green insulated grounding conductor. The conductors are cabled together and a binder tape bearing the print legend is wrapped around the assembly. Aluminum interlocking armor is applied over the assembly.

UL 1569, Metal-clad Cables, only specifies that the conductors must be one of the types found Table 310.4, leaving the choice up to the manufacturer. However, that same product standard requires that the reel, box, or tag marking for the product include the temperature rating.

Unlike NM cable which is required by the NEC to have conductors rated for 90° C as Don stated MC cable does not have that requirement. I think that for sake of argument you could say that all modern MC cable is constructed with 90° C conductors.

It's ironic that the one cable type they specify a particular insulation rating for can never be used at that rating.
