Is there a best practice for what the max length should be when using 4/0 SER Aluminum from the Service Disconnect to the interior main panel? I have a service disconnect that is about 75 feet from the main panel. Wondering if 250 kcmil should be used instead.

I'll bet pretty much everyone would use 4/0 for that.

An educated answer would require knowing the actual expected load, not just the breaker rating.

I would run that length of 4/0 all day long and not worry about it.

I too, would use the 4/0 AL .
If it was much further you would have to know the load as Larry said
