OK,a chase nipple or male threaded coupling and lock
When connecting an 1/2” LB to the side of a sub panel what is NEC code on wether to use a chase nipple or male threaded coupling and lock but with bushing to join the two? As seen in pic. Thanks
I think this has been brought up before. I thought a chase nipple was only listed with a lock ring? It was that or the chase nipple was done with a RMC coupling.May be the particular manufacturer I encountered, but I've never had a chase nipple tighten into a condulet to the point I felt is was firmly seated,.
I agree. A chase nipple suffers from the same listing issue as other male tread conduit fittings in that it has only been tested by the NRTL for use with lock nuts.I think this has been brought up before. As Augie said, I think all the issues were not being able to tighten and/or straight threads vs tapered…can’t remember
Exactly as I tried to look for what is was compatible with or to be used with on listing of package but could find none. Nor could I find chase nipple or similar description in NEC so farI agree. And, as you and Augie mentioned, I to have seen them not tighten down when used like this.
