I'm planning to direct bury my residential service conductors from the transformer to a electrical utility room in the center of my new building. I can add a 2" emt sleeve to protect the conductors from the slab to the meter. The building is slab on grade and will be covered by 4" of concrete. My question is if I install the meter inside the building next to the service can I just run a pvc underground out to the exterior for remote meter reading? I really want to keep the exterior as clean as possible, this will be a wedding venue.

Thanks,
I can stub up through the concrete with schedule 40 pvc, no problem. My bigger concern is running the feeder under the length of the building. I assume as long as I'm down over 18" and I set my meter directly above where I enter the building there is no issue. My question is would it make sense to throw a 1" pvc from my meter to the outside of the building for remote metering?

Our poco would allow the meter inside an electrical room with a door to the outside and a lock box with their key outside.

Thanks Tom, I will check with the POCO. if they allow a keybox that would work fine, otherwise I can find a way to get the wires from the meter to the outside of the building, I thought most metering was done remotely now but maybe its because I live in a large city.

It never hurts to bury an extra conduit or three under a slab.
Funny, you should see my house, went a little crazy running pvc out for Christmas lights, accent lights, outside receptacles for land care tools etc. Only made use of one.
