So who is paying for the extra electricity from the losses and inefficiencies? I would say no way to that if I was the client.

They can go the opposite direction too, I put three phase in a Church specifically for the HVAC and the elevator. Well, the HVAC guy put in all single phase units, and the elevator people put in a single phase elevator with a freq drive converting it back to three phase! Just hooked up my third phase converter this year! Seems to be a run on them lately. This one is a 20 HP, but draws less at idle than the 10 HP I put in a couple of weeks ago. Go figure!

Yeah, just idling, they draw several amps, adds up pretty quickly.

A little control work and that rotophase does not need to come on until it's needed.

I told him what you guys concluded to just get the right unit I don’t know why he trying to make it work.
