Customer is looking to have a receptacle installed in fire box of existing fireplace for wood burning insert to avoid having cord showing. Looked up the model of stove it is listed for zero clearance. So I don't think heat will be a issue was planning on dropping MC cable down the clean out to basement putting it on its on circuit afci/gfci as I do with everything in dwellings. Do I need to put a service switch on the wall? Receptacle will be accessible only by removing the trim plates of the stove. Also if anybody has done these before and has better solutions please feel free to chime in this is in Massachusetts btw.

I have done that exact install many times, per 422.33 I think you need a wall switch or a breaker lockout. I always do a wall switch.
