what's a good way to splice 2 #10 in a trough, Are the Isco lugs with the plastic around them OK, or is Burndys wrapped up in rubber and 33 better?
Many PE's have no clue and/or are horrible at installing things and should leave that sort of decision to the electrician. Its #10 your correct a wire nut would do, I mentioned wire nuts to the PE and he said he preferred some sort of lug,
To be honest, for a wire that small I think wire nuts will make a better connection. The other connectors you mentioned are for bigger wires and I never liked putting smaller wires into them. It just seems like they float around too much and the lug pushes them to the side. Its #10 your correct a wire nut would do, I mentioned wire nuts to the PE and he said he preferred some sort of lug,

I wirenut #6’s together all the time and they see 48 A for a continuous 10+ hours and I’ve never had an issue.
Then use the insulated Polaris type connectors. Easier for you. The only reason why I would go back to old fashion connectors that I had to insulate myself would be to avoid paying the higher fee for the Polaris connectors. They are paying, So what do I care
Well if that's the case why are you asking the question here? Give them what they want and charge them for itThey are paying, So what do I care
