How many of you guys utlize cost codes? I heard more is NOT always better as field will not buy in.
What do you think about these?
Not sure how you you could separate overhead rough fromin wall rough. Doesn't one bleed into the others sometimes? Say a receptacle circuit may be both in wall and overhead.

Mobilization/Demobilization
Demo
Temp Power
Underground Rough
In-Wall Rough
Overhead Rough
Branch Circuit Wire Rough
Feeders
Switchgear/Panels/Transformers
Lighting
Device Trim Out
Equipment Connections
 
If you’re asking about job costing codes, i split them as follows:

Slab
Rough-in
Site rough
Site trim
Building Trim out
Punch/Warranty

They are setup like this in the job clock for guys to use when they clock in on a job.

For schedule of values they’re basically the same but I’ll have a few additional lines for feeders/secondaries, HVAC, equipment connections, etc, and just bill the percentage of each on a monthly basis. Depends on how long the job is and the monetary value of tasks. Sometimes I add more to show full completion on a particular task to bill 100% if it’s a long project.

WHen you say building trim out you mean "devicing"...installing devices, plates etc.?
How about light fixtures?
