Don't know what you are calling a curb. Do you have any pictures.

I've seen a piece of uni-strut mounted to the curb and the receptacle mounted to that. Why not mount it to the RTU?
Edit: I see you said don't have a convenient spot to mount on the RTU

You can usually mount it to a non-removable panel on the RTU itself.
No good spot on the RTU (Lennox Lx series) that I can see

Nothing would prevent you from doing so. The only problems I could see anybody barking about would be snow buildup in the winter time if its very low maybe roof heat. And also making sure you arent causing any leaks being part of the roofing system and waterproofing.

Where is your disconnect? Can you mount to the side of it?
Chase nipple into the back of a Bell box, then drill and tap for a couple of short 6-32 screws?

That would be my main concern, make sure whatever you do doesn't increase possibility of leaks.
