Had another mislabeled circuit the last few days. That's the downside of working in a building that's been reinvented countless times over the years. Often done spur of the moment, between late closing and early opening, etc.

Here, we're required to use room designations that do not change with occupancy.
I like that. Room 12 will always be room 12 and you can have additional labeling on doors for whatever changes are made. Good "framework" or "infrastructure". I have seen a few office buildings where that got distorted some. A wall might be removed to make 2 smaller rooms into one larger one. Stuff like that should be easy to update though.

I had my panel replaced a few weeks ago. One of the electricians filled in the directory on the door. I think he has a great future as a fiction author.

I need to play 'find the breaker' and re-write it. *sigh* I have a circuit diagram for a "Little Jiffy Fuse Blower" which I could use....

How did it pass inspection like that? Yours as well as the AHJ's.

Have the electrician label it correctly. You paid for it.

One of our CEU instructors did bring up the point that the requirement did not say it had to be correct.
We've had customers (poco) specifically tell us not to label the spares. They didn't care what the code said.

Throughout my years in this business, I have seen many good electricians who are poor at labeling. Generally better now but not always.

I've done older homes that did not have enough label space to indicate precisely where each item was located. 'Lites& Recepts, Up& Down' was as good as it got.
I’ve seen that many times. 🤣

If homeowner agrees, best to label each receptacles and switch plate. The single little numbers from a marker book are small enough not to stand out much.
