I have recently begun reading into kirchoffs law and was wondering if there were any other laws or similar things out there that would be good to learn about.

Here are some real important ones that like 99% of the people on this planet can't grasp

First Law of Thermodynamics

First law of thermodynamics, also known as the law of conservation of energy, states that energy can neither be created nor destroyed, but it can be changed from one form to another.
The first law of thermodynamics may seem abstract, but we will get a clearer idea if we look at a few examples of the first law of thermodynamics.

First Law Of Thermodynamics Examples:

  • Plants convert the radiant energy of sunlight to chemical energy through photosynthesis. We eat plants and convert the chemical energy into kinetic energy while we swim, walk, breathe, and scroll through this page.
  • Switching on light may seem to produce energy, but it is electrical energy that is converted.

Second Law of Thermodynamics

Second law of thermodynamics states that the entropy in an isolated system always increases. Any isolated system spontaneously evolves towards thermal equilibrium—the state of maximum entropy of the system.
The entropy of the universe only increases and never decreases. Many individuals take this statement lightly and for granted, but it has an extensive impact and consequence.

Visualizing the second law of thermodynamics

If a room is not tidied or cleaned, it invariably becomes more messy and disorderly with time. When the room is cleaned, its entropy decreases, but the effort to clean it has resulted in increased entropy outside the room exceeding the entropy lost.

Also:

1) Know what you don't know.
2) Don't be afraid to admit it.
3) Know where-how to find out .

Too many times I've seen people make a simple problem worse by 'try this-try that' instead of saying 'I need to get more information'.

(Computer / IT guys are the worst, they'd rather try to bullsh*t their way out rather than simply say 'I don't know'.)

Even if you win an argument with a woman, you still lose. Just like the laws that say energy can't be created only converted into another form, the woman's side of the argument will be converted into some other form that will lead to you loosing.

They are all like arguing with The Riddler

I agree. I just got my journeyman liscense and I don't want to be the journeyman that only knows simple and basic things. That'd why I started digging into other theories and trying to self teach.

I was once doing an oral exam in physics and needed to use a Right Hand Rule. Since I was holding the chalk in my right hand I used my left hand instead. :(

"Do willingly what you will ultimately do begrudgingly". No. 1 law for a happy marriage, also applicable to the electrical trade.

Note to self: I am going to have to get over this eventually. Why not now?

Coming up on my 40th anniversary, this is an absolute truth.

Although not an "electrical" law, I was forced to learn this over the years of applying and troubleshooting VFDs.
The Affinity Laws for centrifugal pumps and fans:

The really important one that trips most people up is Law 1c; that the power needed by the machine (pump or fan) is proportional to the CUBE of the speed change. So if I have a European pump that was designed to run at 50Hz and required 10HP at that speed, and I give it 60Hz here in the US, the pump impeller turns at 120% speed. So the power REQUIRED by the pump becomes 1.203 or 173% of what it was designed for, meaning now I need 17.3HP and if it still has the same 10HP motor, it will overload in a about 6 minutes.

This concept also shows up in wind turbine layout/design as the power output will vary by the cube of the velocity. Any time a building owner starts talking about small scale wind turbines, I always suggest installing a few anemometers where they are thinking of installing the turbines to make sure the power production from the installation will be able to meet the owner's expectations since the wind conditions can vary greatly at the lower heights.
