I have Milwaukee’s M18 cable stripper, and I’ve used the cu bushings on al wire before, and it’s worked fine. Is there a significant difference using the AL bushings? I have a large job coming up with a ton of 500 AL, and I wanted to be prepared.

We've used them for stripping thousands of 750 AL conductor ends with the proper bushing for the conductor type, insulation type, and size. I haven't tried to interchange between copper and aluminum bushings. Aluminum is almost always a compact conductor so I'm not sure how well a copper bushing of the same size would work.

We did have a major problem with the locking hole in the bushing stripping out after only a hundred or so uses. I ended up drilling my own new holes to extend the life of the bushing.

If you're asking for an opinion mine would be to use the proper bushing for the conductor that you're stripping.

Thank you for your assessment.

I’ll buy the aluminum set now.

I rarely go above 500, but when you do…

Do you happen to have their crimper? I’m debating using theirs, our supplier is offering a free cutting head with it.

Yes, we use 18 volt Milwaukee cutters, strippers, and crimpers. I really like their system and IMO they're worth the money. The stripper alone will pay for itself if you have a lot of cables to strip like this mess of 750's.
