A sauna requires a cord of 110 degrees C and water resistant. SOOW cord has only 90 degrees C. Any suggestions please?
I’d bet that thing isn’t listed by a U.S. NRTL.
If it requires 110°C conductors, not likely I would accept carflex...the only flex that I would see being acceptable would be FMC.I have never heard this before. You could run carflex and install some high temp wire in it. Table 310.104 will have some listed
Thanks I am planning on doing that. what high temperature wire do you recommend, and is it waterproof?Years ago we used to purchase a maroon color 16/3, 14/3 & 14/4 cords that were made in Europe and had no markings on jacket. It was the only cord that held up on 480 volt heaters that moved a inch or three several times a minute then had to rotate 90 degrees when machine shut down so it would not melt chocolate in bar molds trays. Maybe you can ask the AHJ if you can install a splice box on outside of this and just run high temperature wire to the box.
Thank you I didn’t know that. I just ran the even size wire that is the next size larger listed in the manual to the panelSomeone converted some metric wire size to AWG and didn't realize that US electricians commonly only use even AWG sizes for small wires.
Yes, you can get 11 AWG wire. Even fractional gauges. Common for magnet wire in motors. Not common for flexible cords.

Not sure of the temperature but if you have a hand held FLIR camera or a basic hand held $100 digital laser thermometer perform a reading at terminal also after its been running a hour. We used T&B high temperature bare sta kons on most heaters. The maron cable that I mentioned might have had a silicone jacket. Jacket was not as tough as jacket on type SO cord but held up. At least once a week they hosed down the area and cord got wet. We used aluminum cord connectors that had a rubber bushing to prevent water entry. Thanks I am planning on doing that. what high temperature wire do you recommend, and is it waterproof?
