NYC FA Phone Lines

Any familair with this?
" provide dedicated phones lines for central station monitoring". I know what they are for but I don;t think they ever get run to the IT closet....I think it's from the Fire alarm panel to some sort of demarc point.

Oh definitely get run. My last FACP passed about 6 months ago and in lieu of phone lines the fire alarm vendor chose Internet connection (primary) and a cellular (secondary). If you are not installing a FACP, I doubt you need phone lines. This might be copy/paste boiler plate spec rubbish

I am installing the facp.where.do they usually get run to?

RFI it. But yes probably the demarc for the telephone

Single story location-Dmarc. anything above that, check Comm rooms for 25 or 50 Pair at the racks or 66 blocks on the walls. Hope it helps.

That usually means a line not used for anything else (voice calls, fax machine, etc), not that a separate cable must be run from the phone demarc/MPOE to the fire panel or elevator.

That's how it used to be done-- home run from the panel to the demarc. And if it's for the fire alarm, doesn't the wire have to be in conduit or otherwise protected?

Are you also doing the central station for this project? Everywhere else in the country you are getting charged about $7 per account. NYC is super extra special; gonna run you about $400 a pop. Fees are due entirely to the FDNY sticking their oar in.

I've traced lines through rooms like that, usually to other rooms like that.
