I'm looking to install a 20A outlet on a pedestal under a soft cover (golf cart 'shed') at a camp ground, on a permanent site. (Yes. I'll be using waterproof enclosure, with all the trimmings). As the distance is about 100' from the power source (site's ped), I'm planning on installing 10GA UF cable inside some conduit (most likely sched 80 or equiv). This is the source of my dilemma... What about the the LOAD side. As I can't directly tap into the campsite's power ped, the customer asked if we could bury an extension cord (already said no, hence the cable and conduit). The question is: if I put a 20A power inlet near that main ped, would that follow code for the customer to run a short extension cord between power inlet and main ped (ensuring 20A cord)? He wants to use that remote outlet to charge his golf cart.

I can't find anything talking about this, and am looking to see what others have done with this.

Thanks

Camp ground rules. Cant tap into the site's ped. They have a 20A outlet, and 2x 30A or 2x 50A (depending on how new)

Sounds like if you can't tap into the existing 20A receptacle you out of luck. Can you remove the existing receptacle and say your relocating it?

Thats why i was asking about the short extension cord between the 20A outlet (main ped) and power inlet to the remote outlet.

Dumb question: If you aren't allowed to run your conduit into the pedestal, have you checked to see if you're allowed to trench 100ft and run pipe?

Orrrr....put up a sign advertising golf cart rides and other amusements, now its an article 525 situation and 525.20(G) lets you bury a cord. Keep the receptacle end out of the permanent shed so other articles don't apply. ( i doubt this would actually fly but it would be fun to attempt)

Pulling UF in PVC is probably the worst pull you will ever experience.

Plus, you're supposed to treat a flat cable as a round cable of the same diameter.

You're better off pulling individual conductors.

Is the ped in a location where someone will see it? Can you burry the conduit and get it to grass over before someone sees it? Asking forgiveness is much easier than asking permission. Most camp sites around us have zero clue about electricity and wouldn't know the difference. What's the worst case, they find it and ask you to remove it? I'd just disconnect the recept in the ped and use the 20A breaker to feed the new line. Is there anything contractual about your annual site that says you forfeit your spot if you modify the electric?

I assume the shed has too much stuff in it to actually park the golf cart in the golf cart shed....
