Hi all,

I'm reviewing a project that appears to be a prefab exterior K-9 kennel, which comes complete with lights, HVAC and a manufacturer installed electrical panel. All we are being asked to do is provide feeder to it. It is located separate from the main building, so is its own structure. We are bringing 480 to it and then stepping down to 120/240V. I've done livestock/ag-ish projects before where we did the equipotential ground mesh thing, but my reading of the code (and the internet) is "dog kennel" and "livestock" are two different environments and the equipotential ground mesh is not required at a kennel. Do I call for basic grounding electrodes to be established at the transformer secondary / kennel panel and call it a day?

I assume there is a kennel vendor/manufacturer involved, since this is a prefab deal, so I will ask the same question of them back through those channels. But any insight the group has here is appreciated!
 
Yes it would appear to be a drive two and go home install. Will the kennel be inspected and preapproved similar to a travel trailer?

Why 480V and not 240/120V?

Off topic but why not. The nearest 208V panels are pretty heavily loaded, and the kennel has an AC/elec heat component. So we are going off a 480V panel that has ample capacity.

Having said that, I wasn't involved in how we got to that decision, and although the provided panel comes with a 125A MCB it only has about 25A load. Will revisit with the team.
