I have an X-ray machine that has 80amp fla. It also requires the the ground to be sized the same as the hot wires. Requires 3 hot wires and no netrual. 3 phase 480v.

I'm providing a 100A breaker with 3#2 and 1#2 green ground. All copper.

My question is does the X-ray require a redundant ground cable? And if so, what size?

Thank you

As Larry says, it's there by default and the #2 is it. I assume your designing per the manufacturers plans and many times the equipment and room is listed as a unit.

BTW, medical equipment designers are not the sharpest marbles in the bag.

Yes per manufacturer requirement.

Sometimes it is very hard to get information on medical equipment. For example in this case i would of sized the ground per NEC table, till i got information that the ground had to be sized the same as the hot wires.

I will post about a medical equipment manufacturers stupidity later, I'm heading out the door right now but it was due to an unneeded Neutral conductor.
