Are they not for only manufactured homes if it’s the ones I’m thinking of I haven’t had a callWhat are your thoughts on using an approved in the wall splice kit for (2) 14/2 NmM cables.
They look cheesy to me.
Any thoughts welcome

Covered j boxes. Small rural church had a parishioner donate his skills. O boy.No way, I would just bury a regular box instead of using those. I have always said that if you are not confident enough in your splices to bury a J-box, then you need to re-evaluate your career choice. IMO the rule against covering over j boxes is dumb too.
Problem is one way is legal other is not- so while you are right- you may get suedNo way, I would just bury a regular box instead of using those. God will protect themCovered j boxes. Small rural church had a parishioner donate his skills. O boy.
If everyone making splices were competent I would agree but many are not, even some seasoned electricians. Found this in a basement where uncle Bubba said that "he know electric". It was energized without a cover. He actually did pretty good with the twisting.Covered j boxes. Small rural church had a parishioner donate his skills. O boy.
Same hereIf it were my house I would bury a flying splice before I would use one of those in wall splices.
makes you wonder how pariniod we may be one so called”safety”My house was built in 55'. I bought it in 86'. I lived there probably 5 years when I took a metal cover off an octagon box in the basement, and it looked something like the picture Infinity posted. 3 AC cables neutrals and hots twisted together perfectly but no wire nuts. I wonder how long it had been that way.....probably since the house was built
