EGC and iso ground in 1 PVC pipe

Had an inspector today call me on having both my equipment ground and iso ground in 1 pipe
for example this underground pipe feeds 4 circuits 1 of which serves an iso recep for a POS system

He couldn’t cite a code but said both grounds could not be in the same pvc pipe…. 250.146(D) ?

He's obviously wrong but how did he expect you to run the IG's if it wasn't in the raceway with the branch circuits? I'm surprised that he didn't ask for a ground rod.

He wanted to see rigid, use the pipe as a ground and then have our iso pulled through, I’ll add that this is a restaurant, in no way a healthcare facility

I'm afraid to ask, but okay why? A wire type EGC is permitted in a non-metallic raceway (usually required) just like a metallic raceway is permitted as an EGC. In either scenario the EGC type is permitted by 250.118.

Sounds to me like the inspector was trying to enforce code meant for patient care locations. If the inspector can’t tell you which code is in violation, most likely there isn’t one.

How is that electrically different from using the metal raceway as the EGC and pulling the isolated EGC in the raceway?

LoL. It's funny because EGC's are permitted to be paralleled in a single without any size restrictions like ungrounded or neutral conductors. If it makes you feel all warm and fuzzy you can pull 4 or 5-#12 EGC's for a 20 amp circuit in the same raceway.
