Hello,
Are branch circuits ran through a concrete pad encasing a swimming pool required to be GFCI protected from the circuits source of supply?

It depends on what the branch circuits are for. Are there outdoor receptacles, or receptacles in a shed, garage, bath house, etc?

The hot tub and receptacle outlet need GFCI protection. Where you protect them is up to you. IMHO

the hot tub utilizes a 50 amp gfci breaker as a disconnect and the receptacle is a gfci type receptacle. The concern is a low impedance ground fault occurring on the line side of the GFCI protection.

He has GFCI protection at the load, he is not talking about the 12" rule for 120V circuits. Plus, he has a 50A load. We don't know the depth, only thing mentioned was the concrete pad.
