Got a beefy portable gen the forestation wants hocked up when they have an emergency so it's going to be Twist lock- set up I guess?..... I don't have specs about the unit yet looking at it Saturday but want to know how you would hock this up?????? Is it as simple as Installing a 3 position knife switch and the building feeder in middle and service on top and Temp set up below??? I have seen that but always looked weird.

Never done one this size..... Service for building is 3/0 208

3 phase manual transfer switch and make sure the N-G bond is lifted in the portable generator.

If the N-G isn't lifted you will need a transfer switch that opens the neutral

I have heard of that Kirk key before
Usually used on larger gear, mechanical key interlock, single key, breaker must be off before it can be removed, once removed, breaker cannot be turned back on. Key is moved to generator breaker that is tied to a common buss, to unlock that breaker. Can be in same section, or a remote section tied with bussing or wiring. But only one breaker at a time can be energized. I have also seen it used with a cam lock cabinet and shunt trip that opens the main when cabinet wiring access is open.
